Kogi Communal Clashes: Ododo Expresses Shock Over Agojeju-Odo Killings
***Promises to prevent a Reoccurrence

GOVERNOR Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi on has expressed deep shock and sympathy over the recent killings resulting from the Thursday communal clashes in Agojeju-Odo community, Omala Local Government Area of the state.
In a Statement signed by Ismaila Isah, Special Adviser on Media to the Governor on Saturday, Ododo regretted the ugly dimension that the communal clashes between people in the area have assumed over time.
He promised immediate intervention by his administration to forestall a reoccurrence of the unfortunate situation.
The Governor assured that perpetrators of the dastardly act who attacked the community would be brought to justice, adding that security agencies are on the trail of the assailants.
He described their acts of killing as “mindless cowardice” which resulted in the destruction of lives and property in the area.
The statement said that the Governor has since sent a delegation led by the state Deputy Governor, Elder Joel Oyibo Salifu on a condolence visit to the area.
He noted that kinetic and non-kinetic measures deployed by the State Government has led to relative stability in Omala Local Government Area until the recent escalation of the conflict.
Governor Ododo further said that the state would deploy a detachment of the recently established Metropolitan Quick Response to the area to complement existing security architecture in Omala local government area.
He commiserated with relatives of those killed in the crisis and promised that the government would provide support for those injured and others whose houses were destroyed in the attack. (Ends)
