Ex-senate President, Lawan Mourns the Passing of Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja

The Chairman of the Senate Committee on Defense, Senator Ahmad Lawan, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff.
In a heartfelt statement, Senator Lawan extended condolences on behalf of the Senate Committee on Defence to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chief of Defence Staff Gen. Christopher Gwabin Musa, the family of the late general, the Nigerian Army, and the entire nation.

Senator Lawan described Lt. Gen. Lagbaja as a patriotic leader dedicated to safeguarding Nigeria, particularly through his efforts in combating insurgency and various security challenges.
According to Senator Lawan, Lt. Gen. Lagbaja’s leadership greatly improved the operational capabilities of the Nigerian Army and uplifted the welfare and morale of its troops, ensuring they were well-prepared for their duties.

“Lt. Gen. Lagbaja’s death is a significant loss to our nation. His experience, resolve, and patriotism will be sorely missed,” Senator Lawan stated.
He also assured Nigerians that the Senate Committee on Defence remains committed to supporting the Nigerian Army in maintaining a strong and effective military force in honor of the late general’s legacy.

Lt. Gen. Lagbaja’s tenure was marked by strategic innovations that enhanced the military’s performance and reinforced national security. His contributions are being celebrated across Nigeria as the nation mourns a respected leader and dedicated officer.
He prayed that his soul may rest in peace.
