The Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Dr Abdulmumini Kabir Usman, has reportedly challenged APC leaders to prioritise security and citizens’ welfare over political manoeuvring ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The monarch, in remarks circulating on social media, reportedly criticised party leaders for pursuing electoral ambitions while bandits continued to attack communities and disrupt livelihoods across Katsina State.

“Your people are dying, you are fighting for ticket,” he reportedly said, referring to alleged political rivalries involving Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, former governor Aminu Bello Masari and their respective camps.

He questioned why political emissaries were discussing President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign when insecurity remained a major concern.

“Should you not be talking about DG security for Katsina 2026?” he reportedly asked.

The Emir also cited the reported closure of 52 schools, difficulties facing farmers in 12 local government areas and ransom payments running into millions of naira.

Challenging the government to demonstrate results against notorious bandit leader Bello Turji, he reportedly declared: “Go and bring him, then come and campaign.”

He also criticised the contrast between the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope agenda and the hardship facing residents.

“You call it Renewed Hope, but people in Katsina are in renewed hunger,” he reportedly said.

The monarch warned politicians against assuming that distributing rice and cash would guarantee votes, arguing that voters could accept campaign gifts and still choose their preferred candidates.

The reported remarks come amid growing political preparations for 2027, with the Emir’s central message being that security and public welfare should take precedence over electoral ambition.
