Despite being in the opposition and having spent over 35 years in politics, including serving as Media Aide to former Jigawa State Governor, Dr. Sule Lamido (CON), I met the Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, H.E. Engr. Aminu Usman (Roller), for the first time in my hometown, Kafin-Hausa.
The Deputy Governor was in Kafin-Hausa on Friday, September 18, 2026, the country home of Governor Malam Umar Namadi DanModi, for condolence visits.
First, he commiserated with Alhaji Sa’idu Umar, elder brother to the Governor’s wife, H.E. Hajia Hadiza Umar Namadi, and Special Adviser on Food and Nutrition, over the passing of his wife, Hajiya Yayale Sidi Suleiman. May Allah have mercy on her soul.
He thereafter visited our gathering to condole with the family of my childhood friend, Malam Ahmed Zakar (Amadu Awila), who died on Thursday, September 17, 2026.
Amadu was a humble and easy-going gentleman, younger brother to Wazirin Kafin-Hausa and Alhaji Sa’idu Zakar Ma’aji (Dan Sallah P.R.O.), and uncle to Malam Umar Suleiman, S.A. New Media II to Governor DanModi. May Allah forgive him and grant him Jannatul Firdaus.
I was deeply moved by the Deputy Governor’s simplicity, calmness, humility and sincere sympathy. Although I had never met him before or written about him in any media, his humane interaction with the people was exemplary.
I commend him and urge him to sustain this spirit of togetherness and reaching out to the people, especially the downtrodden, through empathy, support and people-oriented projects that promote unity and development.
This aligns with Governor Namadi’s good governance drive to take Jigawa to greater heights.
Thank you, Your Excellency, for showing care and concern to the people of Kafin-Hausa. May Allah grant you a safe return and reward your good intentions.
