Obi, Kwankwaso, Dickson deepen talks as NDC fine-tunes 2027 strategy

Fresh consultations among the top hierarchy of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, have intensified ahead of the unveiling of the party’s campaign council for the 2027 general elections.
The latest meeting, which lasted several hours, was held at the Abuja residence of the party’s National Leader, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson.
NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi; his running mate, Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso; National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas Zuwoghe; the two Deputy National Chairmen and other senior party officials attended the meeting.
The meeting is the latest in a series of high-level consultations involving Obi, Kwankwaso and Dickson, who also held a lengthy meeting on Monday.
The frequency of the meetings has brought renewed attention to the efforts by the party’s leadership to settle outstanding issues and establish a coordinated structure ahead of the 2027 campaign.
Although the NDC said the discussions centred on preparations for the campaign council, the repeated consultations involving the party’s three leading figures point to an intensification of strategic planning at the highest level of the party.
The development comes shortly after the NDC directed its candidates nationwide to commence campaigns in their respective states and constituencies in line with the Independent National Electoral Commission’s timetable.
With campaigns already underway, the party is now moving to consolidate its national campaign structure and coordinate its candidates ahead of the general elections.
Dickson has meanwhile appealed to party members and aspirants to close ranks, urging them to work together to secure victory for NDC candidates across the country.
The former Bayelsa State governor, in a statement posted on his verified social media handles, called for unity among members from the presidential contest down to state and constituency elections.
The latest consultations therefore place the impending unveiling of the NDC campaign council at the centre of the party’s immediate political agenda as it moves to translate its leadership arrangements into a nationwide campaign structure.
