NSF congratulates Kwara, celebrates Woro rescue, urges sustained fight against insecurity
The Northern Senators Forum (NSF) has welcomed the successful rescue of victims abducted during the recent kidnapping incident in Woro Community, Kwara State, describing the development as a significant breakthrough in the nation’s ongoing battle against insecurity.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the Chairman of the Forum, Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua, speaking on behalf of Senators representing the 19 Northern States and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), congratulated the Government and people of Kwara State, particularly the resilient people of Woro Community, for the safe return of the abducted victims.
The Forum said the operation stands as compelling evidence that when security agencies work in concert, supported by actionable intelligence and community cooperation, criminal elements can be effectively confronted and defeated.
It commended the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Nigerian Army, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and local vigilante groups for their courage, professionalism and unwavering commitment, noting that their coordinated efforts culminated in the successful rescue mission.
The Forum also applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for providing the strategic leadership, political will and operational support that continue to strengthen the capacity of security agencies in tackling insecurity across the country.
According to the Forum, the rescue operation should inspire greater confidence in Nigeria’s security institutions while reinforcing the need for sustained investment in intelligence gathering, inter-agency collaboration and community policing.
“This successful operation demonstrates that terrorism, kidnapping and banditry can be decisively confronted through coordinated action, effective intelligence and the unwavering commitment of our security personnel. It is a victory not only for Kwara State but for every Nigerian who believes in the capacity of our institutions to protect lives and restore peace.”
While celebrating the rescue, the Northern Senators Forum expressed profound grief over the lives lost during the tragic incident and extended its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
The Forum prayed that Almighty Allah grants eternal rest to the departed and comforts their families with the strength to bear the painful loss. It also called on the Federal Government and the Kwara State Government to provide adequate support and assistance to the affected families.
The Forum urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies by providing timely and credible information, stressing that defeating criminality requires a shared national responsibility between government and citizens.
The Northern Senators Forum reaffirmed its commitment to supporting legislative reforms and initiatives aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture, improving the welfare of security personnel and ensuring that every community across the country enjoys lasting peace and security.
The Forum prayed that Woro Community, Kwara State and the entire Northern region will continue to experience peace, unity and sustainable development.
