The Kogi State Working Committee (SWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has ratified an automatic ticket for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan as the party’s sole candidate for the Kogi Central Senatorial District in the 2027 general election.
Chairman of the party in the state, Hon. Muhammed Sanni Gambo, disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday in Lokoja.
He said the decision was taken at a meeting held at the party’s secretariat, where members unanimously endorsed the earlier approval granted by the leadership.
According to him, the committee also reaffirmed Senator Natasha’s leadership role within the party structure in the state, citing her consistent support and contributions to party activities.
Gambo noted that members of the SWC commended her performance at the National Assembly, describing her representation as purposeful and impactful.
The committee further praised her constituency interventions, including empowerment initiatives and infrastructure-related projects such as schools, markets, housing support, and skills acquisition programmes for constituents in Kogi Central.
The PDP SWC subsequently assured the senator of its full backing, declaring her the party’s consensus choice for the 2027 senatorial contest.
Meanwhile, the party has commenced the sale of Expression of Interest and Nomination forms for the 2027 National and State Assembly elections.
Aspirants were seen at the party secretariat in Lokoja picking up forms for senatorial, House of Representatives, and State Assembly positions.
Speaking on the development, Hon. Gambo said the high turnout reflects what he described as the renewed strength and repositioning of the PDP in Kogi State.
He expressed confidence that the party is now fully prepared to field candidates across all constituencies in the forthcoming elections.
Gambo also described the PDP as “the new bride for Kogi people,” adding that the party has recorded increased membership in recent weeks.
“At the last count, we have harvested 22,000 members from opposition parties in Kogi Central and Kogi East alone. The outcome has been impressive,” he said.
He added that the party is repositioning to reclaim power in 2027, noting that it has regained momentum and is attracting key political actors and supporters across the state.
