Yar’adua Hails Ida’s Emergence as CAC Chairman, Eyes Stronger Corporate Governance
The appointment of Senator Dr. Ibrahim Ida as Chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has continued to draw commendations, with Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’adua describing it as a step in the right direction for Nigeria’s corporate regulatory space.
Ida, whose appointment was approved by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, is widely regarded as bringing a blend of legislative insight and administrative experience to the role.
Reacting to the development, Yar’adua said the new CAC chairman possesses the competence and institutional knowledge required to steer the commission through a critical phase. He pointed to Ida’s track record, including his service in the 6th Senate between 2007 and 2011, as well as his roles as Commissioner of Finance in Katsina State and Permanent Secretary in the Federal Civil Service.
According to the senator, such a background places Ida in a strong position to drive reforms that will enhance efficiency, accountability, and service delivery within the commission.
“Your wealth of experience and dedication to service stand you in good stead for this important national assignment,” Yar’adua stated, expressing optimism about the impact of Ida’s leadership.
He also emphasized the importance of institutional collaboration, assuring the CAC chairman of the National Assembly’s support in advancing reforms that will strengthen Nigeria’s business environment and attract investment.
Ida’s academic credentials further reinforce expectations surrounding his appointment. He holds a Master’s degree in Banking and Finance from the University of Ibadan and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Abuja.
Observers believe his appointment comes at a crucial time when the CAC is expected to deepen reforms, improve transparency, and simplify processes for businesses across the country. With growing demands for ease of doing business, attention will now turn to how effectively the new leadership can translate experience into tangible results.
