Wike Link Alleged as CRG Slams ‘Illegal’ PDP Convention Plot

The Centre for Responsible Governance (CRG) has sounded the alarm over what it calls a coordinated attempt to destabilise the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring any convention driven by suspended officials as unlawful and invalid.
In a statement by its spokesman, Obande George, the group accused certain actors of undermining party order by acting outside legal and constitutional boundaries.
At the centre of the dispute is Samuel Anyanwu, whom CRG insists lacks authority after his suspension—alongside other officials—by the PDP National Working Committee in November 2025, a decision upheld by the Court of Appeal in Abuja in March 2026.
Despite this, CRG said Anyanwu continues to present himself as a party officer and allegedly engage the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), actions it described as misleading and a violation of the rule of law.
The group warned that any congress or convention organised by the suspended officials would be null and could further inflame the PDP’s internal crisis.
It also flagged alleged political backing linked to Nyesom Wike, cautioning that external interference often worsens party instability.
CRG urged INEC to exercise caution and recognise only legitimate party authorities, stressing that adherence to court rulings is essential for democratic stability.
Calling for calm, the group advised PDP stakeholders to pursue reconciliation and lawful processes, warning that ignoring judicial decisions risks deepening political disorder.
