Security: Kogi CP seeks stronger ties with traditional institution, visits Ohinoyi

THE Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Miller Gajere Dantawaye has called for stronger ties between the Nigeria Police and Traditional Institutions in order to enhance security, promote peace, and prevent potential threats within the state.
CP Dantawaye made the call during a courtesy visit to the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland, HRM Alhaji Tijani Ahmed-Anaje as part of ongoing efforts by the Command to foster a stronger relationship with the traditional institution.
The CP who was on the visit with the the Assistant Inspector General of Police, Zone 8, AIG Abubakar Zubairu, said the courtesy call was an opportunity for him to officially introduce himself and the AIG to the revered monarch and seek his royal blessings for a successful tenure in the State.
Dantawaye commended the Ohinoyi for his proactive leadership in addressing security challenges within Ebiraland particularly his swift intervention in preventing a planned protest by some Ebira youths.
The CP noted that such timely actions by the monarch played a crucial role in ensuring peace and order, adding that security is a collective responsibility that requires collaboration between the Police and communities.
He described the Ohinoyi of Ebiraland as a leader of great integrity, humility, and wisdom and acknowledged his efforts in fostering peace, unity, and youth development in the region.
While introducing AIG Abubakar Zubairu to the Ohinoyi, Dantawaye described the AIG as a father figure and mentor whose guidance has been instrumental in shaping his approach to Policing.
He underscored the AIG’s extensive experience and unwavering commitment to upholding law and order, expressing confidence that under their leadership, the safety and security of Kogi State would be further enhanced.
Dantawaye reassured the Ohinoyi of the Command’s unwavering commitment to maintaining peace and stability in the state, saying that the command would remain proactive in tackling crime, preventing unrest, and strengthening Community Policing efforts.
He urged the monarch and other traditional leaders to continue to work closely with security agencies by providing credible information and sensitizing their subjects on the importance of maintaining law and order.
The CP assured that the command would continue to work closely with local leaders, stakeholders, and community members to ensure that peace, stability, and development are sustained across the State.
In his response, His Royal Majesty, the Ohinoyi, Alhaji Tijani Ahmed-Anaje expressed profound gratitude for the visit and commended the CP and the AIG for their commitment to ensuring the security and safety of lives and property in Kogi State.
HRM Ahmed-Anaje said the visit was significant as it demonstrated the Police’s level of commitment to engaging with local leaders to foster peace and security acknowledging the challenges of Policing a dynamic society.
He implored the Police officers to remain professional, just, and fair in their dealings with citizens. (Ends)
