The Forum of Social Democratic Party (SDP) State Chairmen has congratulated Prof. Sodiq Abubakar Gombe on his confirmation as National Chairman, describing his appointment as a milestone for party unity and growth. The announcement was made during a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday by the forum’s leader, Hon. Femi Olaniyi Ferrari.
Hon. Ferrari said Prof. Gombe’s confirmation by the National Executive Council reflects broad support across the party and underscores his capacity to lead the SDP into a new era of stability and strategic direction. “This is a moment to celebrate resilience, dedication, and the continued rise of the SDP as a credible political alternative in Nigeria,” he said.
The forum also commended the National Working Committees for their tireless efforts in strengthening the party’s structure and visibility. Special recognition was given to the party’s former 2023 presidential candidate, whose moral and financial support, the forum said, has been critical to the SDP’s progress.
In a key development, the forum unveiled its executive team, pledging strong leadership at the state and national levels. The officers are: Hon. Ferrari – Chairman of Chairmen (COC); Abba Modu – Deputy Chairman, Northern Region; Hon. Okunlade Michael – Deputy, Southern Region; Mr. Adamu Idris – Secretary; Mr. Idoko Itodo – Assistant Secretary; Mr. Kingsley Obina Agbo – Treasurer; Mr. Allen Amadien – Publicity Secretary; Barrister Yerima Yakubu – Legal Adviser; and Mr. Willington Odiong – Ex Officio.
Secretary of the forum, Mr. Idris Adamu, urged all SDP members to intensify grassroots outreach, emphasizing that the party is uniquely positioned as a stable, united, and results-driven alternative for Nigerians. “Our manifesto is clear, actionable, and designed to deliver sustainable progress and meaningful transformation nationwide,” he said.
The forum said it would continue to engage stakeholders across Nigeria, advocating policies that promote unity, inclusion, and effective governance. It added that with strengthened leadership and coordinated efforts, the SDP is ready to expand its reach and deliver on the aspirations of Nigerians seeking a credible political platform.
