Real Estate Firm Counters Fraud Allegations Against Ex-Guber Candidate
Emperor City Integrated Limited has responded forcefully to allegations of land fraud circulating on social media against its Managing Director, Alhaji Musa Mubarak Saliu, a former gubernatorial candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Kogi State.
The allegations, made by one Hajiya Zainab Abubakar and widely shared across blogs and online platforms, accuse Alhaji Musa Mubarak of defrauding her in a property transaction reportedly worth ₦90 million.
In a rejoinder issued on Tuesday, the real estate company described the claims as “malicious falsehoods” designed to damage the reputation of its MD and mislead the public.
According to the firm, Hajiya Zainab purchased two estate plots through a documented transaction with the company, paying a total of ₦47 million into its corporate account—contrary to the ₦90 million figure being touted online.
The land in question, located in Abuja’s Wuye District, was later demolished by the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) due to what it cited as “overriding public interest.” Emperor City insisted this was a government-led demolition beyond the company’s control.
“In good faith, we offered Hajiya Zainab either an alternative plot of equal value or a full refund,” the company’s media lead said. “To our surprise, she rejected both options and instead escalated the matter, seeking outrageous damages unrelated to the original agreement.”
The firm noted that the dispute is currently before a competent court, having also drawn the attention of both the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the IGP Monitoring Unit.
Despite ongoing legal proceedings, the company expressed concern over what it calls a “media trial” and “blackmail campaign” against Alhaji Musa Mubarak.
“It is regrettable that a commercial disagreement is being manipulated into a personal attack against our Managing Director, who is not the direct beneficiary of the transaction,” the statement added.
Emperor City further defended its corporate track record, describing itself as a reputable player in the Nigerian real estate sector with multiple successful projects to its name.
The company called on the public to disregard what it termed a “deliberate smear campaign” and allow the judicial system to determine the facts.
