Queens of Crude: Ifejika, Akpani to Spotlight Women’s Leadership in Oil Industry

In a powerful statement for gender equity and indigenous leadership, two of Nigeria’s most influential oil magnates — Chief Uju Ifejika of Brittania-U and Mrs. Winifred Akpani of Northwest Petroleum — will headline the 2025 Indigenous Oil & Gas Investors Summit in Lagos.

Billed for July 23–24 at the prestigious Bickley Park Waterfront Hotel in Lekki, the high-level summit is themed “Local Vision, Global Impact: The Future of Oil and Gas Investment in Nigeria.” It will convene policymakers, financiers, energy leaders, and emerging entrepreneurs to explore how indigenous players can drive innovation and sustainability in the industry.

The highlight? A headline session led by Ifejika and Akpani titled “The Challenges and Triumphs of Women in the Oil and Gas Sector”—a bold reflection of the rising influence of women at the epicenter of Nigeria’s energy evolution.

“These women aren’t just participants—they are pioneers who reshaped the terrain,” said Wenefred Odunze, Summit Coordinator. “Their insights will elevate the conversation on local capacity, inclusive growth, and the resilience needed to thrive in a global energy economy.”

Both women shattered long-held ceilings to establish fully indigenous firms competing on both local and international fronts. Their participation symbolizes not just empowerment, but a redefinition of who leads and builds within Nigeria’s energy narrative.

With attendance expected to surpass previous editions, organizers urge early registration as momentum builds for what promises to be one of the most defining gatherings in Nigeria’s oil and gas calendar.

The summit is more than a conference—it’s a movement placing indigenous excellence and female leadership at the heart of Nigeria’s energy future.
