President’s wife distributes food items to 600 IDPs, less privileged in Nasarawa

Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of the president has on Tuesday distributed food items to over 600 Internally Displaced Persons and the people living with disabilities in the state.

The first lady said the food disptribution is being done under the renewed hope initiative of the food outreach scheme, as part of it social investment Program.

“The food outreach scheme is designed to provide food for the underprivileged persons in the society in line with the resolve of the administration of president Bola Tinubu which is proposed to leave no one behind in food security and sufficiency in the country.

“Under this scheme a trailer load of assorted food donated to state governments for onward distribution to identified groups on monthly basis.

The first lady who was represented by the wife of the Vice President, Nana Shettima noted that the Federal Capital Territory, Kano and Nasarawa states had benefited from the scheme which will be followed by Benue State.

While assuring that other states will benefit in due courses, urged the beneficiaries not to sell the items but use them to take care of themselves and families.

She however stated that apart from the social investment Program, the First lady has plans in the area of agriculture, education, health and economic empowerment to better the life of the people and nation.

She also announced that the ministry of agriculture has concluded plans to donate trucks of fertiliser and rice to every state, starting with Nasarawa state.

Responding, governor Abdullahi Sule, who was represented by Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, the deputy governor, commended the good gesture of the first lady, Oluremi Tinubu for reaching out to the less privileged in the state.

Governor Sule assured that his administration will ensure equitable distribution of the food items to the right beneficiaries.

Items distributed to each beneficiary includes 25kg of rice, bag of semovita, carton of Macaroni, spaghetti.

The beneficiaries applauded Senator Oluremi Tinubu for remembering them in such hardship moment and pray God to reward her.
