Philanthropists Urged to Step Up as Cabul Network Supports Waru LEA Pupils
Amid rising economic hardship and widening educational inequality, the Cabul Network Community Development Initiative has renewed calls for philanthropists across Nigeria to intensify their support for vulnerable children.
The appeal came during the organisation’s outreach to Waru LEA Primary School in the Federal Capital Territory, where school uniforms, exercise books, and writing materials were donated to pupils in need — a gesture the group says should be replicated nationwide.
Chairman of the initiative, Mr. Okechukwu Okorie, said the intervention highlights how much impact even modest acts of generosity can make in underserved communities, urging well-meaning Nigerians to become more actively involved.
Okorie noted that with many families struggling to afford basic learning materials, private philanthropy has become an essential lifeline for keeping children in school and giving them a fair chance at the future.
The Head Teacher, Mr. Dikko Sol, and Assistant Head Teacher, Mr. Adasa Reuben, both praised the gesture, describing it as a reminder that meaningful progress in education often starts with individuals and organisations willing to look beyond themselves.
They encouraged more Nigerians, especially professionals, business owners, and community leaders, to emulate such acts of service to help bridge the resource gap faced by public schools.
One of the beneficiaries, Loyalty Taye, a pupil at Waru LEA Primary School, expressed joy and gratitude, saying the donated items would make her school experience easier.
The distribution took place on the school grounds in Waru, a community about ten kilometres from the Abuja city centre.
