PDP Slams Bola Ahmed Tinubu Over Terrorism Ranking, Says Govt ‘Dancing on Blood’

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has strongly criticised the Federal Government following Nigeria’s ranking in the Global Terrorism Index 2026, accusing the administration of failing to protect citizens amid worsening insecurity.
In a statement issued on Friday, the opposition party said it was “painful and unacceptable” that leaders entrusted with safeguarding the nation were allegedly “wining, dining and dancing abroad” while Nigerians continue to face killings and kidnappings.
The PDP challenged President Tinubu to deploy what it described as his “political mastery” toward addressing the country’s deepening security crisis, stressing that citizens are growing weary of persistent violence.
Reacting to the latest terrorism index released by the Institute for Economics and Peace, the party noted that Nigeria now ranks fourth globally in terms of the impact of terrorism. It added that the country is among a handful of nations responsible for nearly 70 percent of terrorism-related deaths worldwide.
According to the PDP, the report reflects the “harsh daily reality” faced by Nigerians, with insecurity worsening significantly under the current administration.
National Publicity Secretary of the party, Ini Ememobong, stated that insecurity has not only escalated but has also become a “lucrative enterprise,” describing it as a “trillion-naira economy” under the present government.
The party further criticised what it called a pattern of reactive responses to security incidents, urging the government to adopt a comprehensive, “whole-of-society” approach to tackling insecurity.
It also called for urgent policies aimed at achieving both immediate cessation of attacks and long-term peace, emphasising that the constitutional responsibility of government remains the protection of lives and property.
“The government must move beyond post-attack rhetoric and deliver real security for Nigerians,” the statement concluded.
