PASAN Leadership Refutes Allegations of N3 Billion Fraud

The leadership of the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria (PASAN) has strongly rejected allegations of misappropriating N3 billion in union funds.
This response follows protests by dissatisfied members outside the PASAN National Secretariat at Plot 520, Trow Plaza, Jabi District, Abuja.

The protests had disrupted business activities in the plaza last Monday, forcing other tenants to close their shops due to the chaos.

Aggrieved members called for audited financial statements and operational reports dating back to 2019, voicing concerns over the union’s financial management.

In a counterstatement, PASAN Chairman Comrade Sunday Sabiyyi and Secretary Comrade David Ann Ebizimoh described the allegations as unfounded and defamatory. They urged union members and the public to dismiss what they termed “unfounded blackmail” aimed at distracting the union from its objectives.

The statement emphasized the PASAN executive’s commitment to transparency and accountability in financial matters, asserting that all funds are utilized according to constitutional procedures for the benefit of members. They expressed willingness to cooperate with any inquiries or audits.

Sabiyyi also criticized the N3 billion claim as exaggerated and unrealistic, stating that such an amount could not possibly be generated by PASAN’s state chapters and the National Assembly Service Commission.

The union characterized the accusers as “sore losers” from previous executive elections and reiterated their dedication to addressing member concerns and implementing necessary reforms, highlighting their openness to feedback for the association’s betterment.
