Okpobor Backs Women, Youth Rice Initiative in Delta

Director of Administration and Finance at the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Chief Oghenekome Okpobor, has endorsed the Positive Impact for Women and Youth Development Initiative (PIWYODI) for its drive to boost rice farming in Delta State.

Receiving the NGO’s delegation in Warri, Okpobor described the effort as timely, saying it could create jobs, enhance food security, and promote sustainable development.
He also urged the group to collaborate with political and community leaders to expand its impact.

PWYODI, established three years ago, focuses on empowering women and youth through agriculture, education, climate advocacy, and health.

National Coordinator, Mrs. Martha Onadeko, said rice cultivation holds vast opportunities for Delta and Nigeria, while State Coordinator, Hon. Marry Samuel, revealed that over 20 hectares of rice are already due for harvest.
