Ododo Launches High-Tech Security Drones, Pledges Zero Tolerance for Crime in Kogi

In a major boost to state security, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on Monday unveiled two HP-20 State Asset Drones, describing them as a critical tool for maintaining peace and preventing criminal activity across Kogi State.
The unveiling at Chari Maigumeri Barracks, Lokoja attracted top military commanders, security officials, and government representatives, signaling the administration’s commitment to technology-driven security solutions.
Governor Ododo explained that the drones are equipped with advanced surveillance, monitoring, and rapid-response capabilities, allowing real-time intelligence gathering, early threat detection, and precision operations even in challenging terrains.
“These drones will enhance coordination among security agencies and enable faster, intelligence-led deployment of forces statewide,” he said.
Reaffirming his zero-tolerance stance on insecurity, the governor warned criminals that the state will not surrender any community to bandits or terrorists. Highlighting Kogi’s strategic position as a gateway between northern and southern Nigeria, he noted that border and forested areas had previously been vulnerable to migrating criminal elements.
Governor Ododo also reflected on his administration’s security achievements over the past two years, emphasizing a framework built on technology, community engagement, inter-agency collaboration, and political will.
“Today, Kogi ranks among Nigeria’s most peaceful states. Our goal is clear: to make it the safest,” he added.
The Commander of 12 Brigade, Brig.-Gen. K.U. Sidi, called the drones a “game changer” that enhances operational efficiency and positions Kogi as a leader in security innovation. Representatives of the Nigerian Army reaffirmed their commitment, citing the recent deployment of the 21 Battalion as a strategic move to strengthen rapid-response capabilities in the state.
Residents and stakeholders have widely welcomed the initiative, praising it as a bold and reassuring step in safeguarding lives and property across Kogi State.
