Ododo Hails Danlami Nmodu’s Election as GOCOP President
Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo, has congratulated the publisher of NewsDiaryOnline, Mr. Danlami Nmodu, on his election as the new President of the Guild of Corporate Online Publishers (GOCOP).
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Ismaila Isah, Governor Ododo described Nmodu’s emergence as a reflection of the unity, maturity, and professionalism that define the Guild.
He commended the peaceful and transparent conduct of the election, noting that the process — in which many candidates emerged unopposed — underscored the bond of mutual respect and integrity among members.

Governor Ododo urged the new GOCOP leadership to uphold fairness, transparency, and accountability, while sustaining the Guild’s tradition of responsible journalism that has earned it national credibility.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to press freedom and open governance, the Governor described the media as a vital partner in deepening democracy and promoting accountability.
“I congratulate the new leadership of GOCOP and urge members to remain at the forefront of responsible journalism,” Ododo said. “As an administration, we will continue to expand the frontiers of press freedom as a critical pillar of democracy while encouraging fairness, accountability, and professionalism in media practice.”
Governor Ododo also praised GOCOP members for their role in projecting government policies and programmes that positively impact the lives of citizens, describing the Guild as a reliable bridge between government and the people.
Mr. Danlami Nmodu emerged President of GOCOP after a keenly contested election held in Lagos, succeeding Dr. Maureen Chigbo, publisher of RealNews and the immediate past president of the Guild.
