Obidients Raise Alarm: ‘We Are Being Sidelined in Our Own Revolution’

The Obidient Movement, the heartbeat of Nigeria’s youth-driven political awakening, has issued a passionate call to H.E. Peter Obi, raising alarm over what it describes as systemic exclusion and growing marginalisation within the coalition it helped build.

In a strongly-worded letter dated July 29, 2025, and signed by National Coordinator Dr. Tanko Yunusa, the movement expressed “severe grievances” over its deliberate omission from key decision-making processes.
The letter accused coalition leaders of sidelining its representatives from critical strategy meetings and failing to grant the movement appropriate representation in both working and non-working committees across Nigeria’s geopolitical zones.

“Our people are deliberately excluded at all levels,” the letter states. “This creates an impression of marginalisation and undermines trust, which is essential for building a sustainable partnership.”

While reaffirming their loyalty to the shared goal of a “New Nigeria,” the Obidients are demanding nothing short of structural reform to guarantee fairness, transparency, and respect.
They insist that their contributions—both online and on the ground—must be acknowledged in how power and responsibility are shared.
“The coalition must reflect the strength and sacrifice of the Obidient Movement. We will not be spectators in a vision we helped to inspire,” Yunusa declared.

As the 2027 political horizon draws nearer, the Obidient Movement’s letter may prove to be a turning point—either a rallying cry for reform within the coalition or a red flag signaling deeper cracks in the foundation of Nigeria’s most dynamic political force in recent memory.
