Obidient Movement Unveils Election Watch Network, Warns Against Manipulation
The Obidient Movement has launched a comprehensive Election Watch Network ahead of the forthcoming Anambra State elections, aimed at safeguarding the integrity of the polls and preventing manipulation of results.
Speaking at a press conference held on Friday at the George Moghalu Campaign Office in Udoka Estate, Awka, the National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, said the initiative would deploy trained volunteers and digital monitoring tools across all 5,720 polling units in the state.
“We have inaugurated Polling Unit Commanders in every ward and community of Anambra State,” Dr. Tanko announced. “Our structures are fully activated to protect the people’s mandate and ensure that the will of the electorate is neither stolen nor distorted.”
He explained that the network is part of a broader effort to enhance transparency in the electoral process and empower citizens to defend their votes through lawful means.
“The era when election results were written in back rooms is over,” he said. “This generation of Nigerians, this generation of Obidients, will not allow the old order of electoral malpractice to return.”
Tanko noted that the network integrates technology-driven tracking systems to monitor accreditation, voting, and result transmission in real time, saying this would help curb vote tampering and collusion.
He also dismissed speculations of internal divisions within the movement, stressing that the Obidient family remains united, disciplined, and focused on its mission of building a new political culture founded on integrity and accountability.
“There is no division, no faction, and no confusion. We are one movement with one purpose—to build a New Nigeria that begins from the polling unit,” he stated.
The Obidient leader urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to uphold impartiality and professionalism throughout the election, warning that any compromise of the process would be resisted through legitimate democratic channels.
He further appealed to security agencies to protect voters and ensure that the elections are free from intimidation, violence, or inducement.
“To every Anambra citizen, your vote is your power—protect it, use it wisely, and stand firm for integrity, competence, and character,” Tanko urged.
Dr. Tanko concluded by reaffirming the movement’s commitment to democratic participation and peaceful civic engagement.
“The world is watching. Nigeria is watching. The future is watching. And we, the Obidients, are ready. A new Anambra is possible—and together, we will make it happen,” he said.
