NYSC Members Urged to Prioritize Productivity for Entrepreneurial Success
Corps members of the 2024 Batch C Stream 2 have been encouraged to adopt a productive mindset as they explore entrepreneurship. This call was made by Mr. Chris Chukwudi Nweze, Deputy Director of the Corporate Affairs and Information Department at the National Productivity Centre (NPC), during an orientation lecture at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Kubwa.
Nweze stressed the importance of not just starting a business but also ensuring its growth and sustainability. “Entrepreneurship is not just about starting a business; it is about making that business thrive. Many people venture into business without the right productivity mindset, and that is why they struggle. A productive mindset, coupled with dedication, discipline, and efficient resource management, is what guarantees long-term success,” Nweze explained.
Additionally, Mr. Victor Ainoko, the Public Relations Officer of the NPC and Technical Adviser to the Director-General, emphasized that productivity is crucial for improving the quality of life. “The difference between individuals and the results they achieve in life is not just about what they have, but how effectively they manage their resources and affairs. Productivity is essential for growth, success, and a better standard of living,” Ainoko said.
Ainoko also reiterated the NPC’s commitment, under the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, to fostering a culture of efficiency and resourcefulness among Nigerians.
Three corps members, Jerald James, Adiele Onyekachi, and Peace Haruna, shared their intentions to pursue self-employment rather than relying on traditional white-collar jobs, aligning with the productive approach encouraged during the lecture.
This initiative aims to empower the younger generation to realize their entrepreneurial potential and contribute to the country’s economic growth.
