Nasarawa United Football Club has officially unveiled Coach Mangut Mbwas-Ayuba as its new Technical Adviser ahead of the 2025/2026 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Ayuba, a seasoned tactician from Plateau State, joins the Solid Miners on a two-year contract with a clear mandate to elevate the team’s performance and ambitions on the national stage.
At the unveiling ceremony in Lafia, Club Chairman Solomon Babanjah described the appointment as a fresh start for the team. “We are excited to welcome Coach Mangut Mbwas, one of the finest coaches in Nigeria, to our family. His knowledge of the game and the NPFL is immense, and his philosophy aligns perfectly with our club’s vision,” Babanjah said.
He added that Ayuba’s arrival signals a new chapter for the club, with high expectations for a competitive run in the topflight league.
The Chairman also acknowledged the support of Governor Abdullahi Sule, thanking him for his unwavering commitment to sports development in the state. He extended similar appreciation to Deputy Governor Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, Commissioner for Youth and Sports Hon. Yakubu Kwanta, the Nasarawa State Football Association led by Salisu Galadima, and other critical stakeholders.
Ayuba takes over from Salisu Yusuf, who helped the team avoid relegation last season before departing to manage a Benin Republic club.
With coaching stints at Heartland FC, Wikki Tourists, Enugu Rangers, and Plateau United FC, where he led the team to a 7th-place finish last season, Ayuba brings a wealth of experience and a CAF B License — Africa’s second-highest football coaching certification.
Hon. Yakubu Kwanta, Commissioner for Youth and Sports, called the appointment “a step in the right direction,” assuring the new gaffer of government backing. “You’ll have full freedom in your technical duties, including player recruitment. Our role is to support, not interfere,” he stated.
In his remarks, Coach Ayuba expressed gratitude and optimism: “I’m happy to be here. The support from government and stakeholders is strong, and that gives me confidence. With the structures already in place, there’s minimal work to do to reach our targets — and with God’s help, we’ll take Nasarawa United to continental football again.”
