The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has taken its sensitization campaign to Kiyawa Local Government Area of Jigawa State, engaging residents, traditional rulers, youth groups, and religious leaders in a community dialogue aimed at addressing rising social and security challenges across the state.
Speaking at the event, the Jigawa State NOA Director, Alhaji Tijjani Ahmed, emphasized the urgent need for collective action to instill discipline and civic values in young people. He identified strong collaboration among families, religious institutions, and local organizations as the most effective path to curbing youth restiveness and promoting societal stability.
According to him, “widespread unemployment, poor moral upbringing, and the lack of community vigilance continue to threaten national unity and peace.” He stressed that open dialogue within communities can help address these root causes and foster proactive solutions.
The sensitization programme, themed “Youth Restiveness and Development Challenges,” served as a platform for stakeholders to offer practical recommendations, including:Strengthening parental roles in early moral and character development, Deepening the involvement of religious leaders in youth education, Creating more youth empowerment and skills acquisition programmes, Improving access to quality education and vocational training and Enhancing neighborhood watch systems to prevent crime and insecurity
Participants at the forum — including traditional rulers, civil society groups, and youth organizations — pledged to work collaboratively to build stronger, safer, and more united communities.
The initiative reflects NOA’s broader strategy of community-based engagement to promote national values, enhance public awareness, and reduce the social triggers of insecurity at the grassroots level.
