‘No Confidence’ Claim Against Karimi in Yagba West Debunked as Fake
Allegations that ward chairmen of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Yagba West passed a vote of no confidence in Senator Sunday Steve Karimi have been dismissed as false, with party insiders describing the report as a deliberate fabrication.
Checks revealed that no such meeting was held in Yagba West Local Government Area, contradicting claims that a forum of ward chairmen convened to adopt a communiqué against the lawmaker.
Sources within the party said the story was concocted to create friction between the senator and the Kogi State Government under Usman Ododo, warning that it was part of a wider scheme to stir internal discord.
They further clarified that the image circulated alongside the report was misleading, noting it was taken during the recent inauguration of ward executives at the APC secretariat in Odo-Ere—not at any purported meeting to pass a resolution.
“There was no gathering, no deliberation, and no vote of no confidence,” a party source stated, insisting the narrative was “a failed attempt at political mischief.”
Insiders also pointed to internal political rivalry as a possible motive, suggesting that some actors were resorting to misinformation to remain relevant amid shifting dynamics within the party.
Despite the controversy, party stakeholders in the area are said to be standing by the senator, with growing calls for those behind the report to withdraw the claims.
As of press time, the ward chairmen at the centre of the report had yet to issue an official response.
