Nigeria Set to Launch Cocoa Farmers Alliance Africa Chapter
***COFAAA to Drive Sustainable Growth for Smallholder Farmers
Nigeria is set to officially launch its chapter of the Cocoa Farmers Alliance Association of Africa (COFAAA) on February 12, 2025, at the NUT Guest House, Samonda, Oyo State, in a move aimed at strengthening cooperation among cocoa-producing countries in Africa.
The launch, which comes after the General Assembly meeting of the Cocoa Farmers Association of Nigeria (CFAN) at the same venue, will bring together key stakeholders in the cocoa sector to drive sustainability and enhance smallholder farmers’ interests across the continent.
A statement issued on Monday by President & Global Coordinator of COFAAA and National President of CFAN, Comrade Adeola Adegoke, said the initiative is seeking to foster collaboration among African cocoa-producing nations, leveraging the 70% share of global cocoa production controlled by the continent.
“COFAAA will strengthen cooperation among cocoa-origin countries in Africa to develop strategic support systems that benefit our smallholder farmers,” Adegoke stated.
Stakeholders from across Nigeria and Africa are invited to participate in this landmark event, which marks a significant step towards achieving full cocoa sustainability and ensuring fair benefits for African cocoa farmers.
