Niger Speaker, Sarkindaji Mourns Kebbi Assembly Speaker, Ankwai
The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly and Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures of Nigeria, Rt. Hon. Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin Daji, has expressed deep sorrow over the death of the Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Mohammed Usman Ankwai.
In a statement issued on Tuesday in Minna by the Acting Head of Media and Public Relations, Ruqayyah M. Tanko, Sarkindaji described the late Ankwai as a “perfect gentleman” whose passing has left a significant void in Nigeria’s legislative community.
He said he received the news with profound sadness, noting that the late Speaker was a distinguished lawmaker and selfless leader who made meaningful contributions to legislative governance and the development of Kebbi State.
According to Sarkindaji, the death of Ankwai is not only a loss to the people of Kebbi State but also a major setback to the nation’s legislative institution, given his dedication, experience, and commitment to public service.
He extended heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Kebbi State, members of the State House of Assembly, and the immediate family of the deceased.
Sarkindaji prayed for the forgiveness of the late lawmaker’s shortcomings and for his soul to find eternal rest, urging his family to take solace in the impactful life and enduring legacy he left behind.
Hon. Ankwai reportedly died in the early hours of Tuesday following a brief illness.
