Nasarawa State Sets Up Committees Ahead of President Tinubu’s June Visit

The Nasarawa State Government has formally inaugurated a Central Planning Committee in anticipation of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s scheduled visit to the state on June 4, 2024.

The inauguration ceremony, held at the Deputy Governor’s Conference Hall in Lafia, was presided over by Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, who also serves as the chairman of the Central Planning Committee.

Speaking during the event, Dr. Akabe said the visit of the President is a landmark occasion for the state, as it would feature the commissioning of critical projects executed by Governor Abdullahi Sule’s administration.

“This visit is of great significance, and every effort must be made to ensure a smooth, successful, and well-coordinated event,” Dr. Akabe stated. “The President will not only inaugurate key infrastructure but will also engage with stakeholders and traditional rulers during a Town Hall meeting.”

He emphasized the importance of teamwork among the committee members and urged them to discharge their responsibilities with diligence and unity of purpose. He assured that all necessary logistics and support would be provided to facilitate the successful hosting of the President.

The Deputy Governor noted that committee members were carefully selected based on merit and relevance to the task at hand, stressing that the outcome of the visit would reflect the state’s preparedness and sense of organization.

The Secretary to the State Government, Barrister Labaran Magaji, who also serves as secretary of the Central Planning Committee, outlined the responsibilities and structure of the various subcommittees.

Subcommittees Formed Include: Publicity Committee – Chaired by the Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism

Field and Venue Committee – Led by the Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport

Accommodation Committee – Headed by the Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Planning

Entertainment Committee – Chaired by the Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources

Programme and Protocol Committee – Led by the Secretary to the State Government

Contact and Mobilisation Committee – Headed by the State APC Chairman

Medical and First Aid Committee – Chaired by the Commissioner for Health

Security Committee – Co-chaired by the Commissioner for Special Duties (Security) and the Nasarawa State Commissioner of Police

Dr. Akabe expressed confidence in the capacity of the committees to deliver, reiterating the administration’s commitment to showcasing the achievements of Governor Sule and strengthening federal-state collaboration.
