Nasarawa APC Chairman Back in Court Over Refusal to Step Down
By Umar Muhammed, Lafia
Suspended Nasarawa State APC Chairman, Aliyu Bello, has again been dragged before the Federal High Court 1 in Lafia for allegedly refusing to vacate his position, despite being suspended by party leaders in his ward.
Led by Ibrahim Iliyasu, APC leaders in Gayam Ward, Lafia LGA, had earlier suspended Bello for alleged anti-party activities. Iliyasu is now seeking a court order to bar Bello from acting as a party member or chairman.
During Tuesday’s proceedings, the plaintiff’s counsel, Isa Hassan-Nalaraba, asked the court to restrain Bello from carrying out any official duties and accused him of planning to expel ward leaders to retain power.
Although the court declined to issue an ex-parte order, it warned all parties against taking actions that could disrupt the case. Justice Mobolaji Olajiwon ruled that the main suit will be heard directly and adjourned the matter to September 25, 2025.
Bello’s lawyer, Thomas Oboshi, dismissed the allegations as speculative and pledged to respond accordingly.
