The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Nenadi Usman, on Monday paid a condolence visit to former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, following the death of his mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai.
During the visit, Usman conveyed the sympathies of the Labour Party to the bereaved family, describing the late matriarch as a woman of dignity, compassion, and service. She prayed for strength and comfort for the family in the wake of the loss.
“She lived a life of exceptional character and service to humanity,” Usman said, as she paid tribute to the deceased.
A special prayer session was held during the visit, led by the party’s National Treasurer, Hamisu Santuraki. Members of the delegation offered prayers for the peaceful repose of Hajiya Umma’s soul and for the family to find solace.
Responding, El-Rufai expressed appreciation to the Labour Party delegation for the show of solidarity. He recalled his final moments with his late mother in Cairo, noting that she remained steadfast in her faith and continued to pray for her family until her last days.
He described her passing as a profound personal loss but expressed gratitude for what he called “a life well spent.”
Usman had earlier issued a condolence message in which she described the late Hajiya Umma El-Rufai as a distinguished community leader and devoted mother who raised her children with strong moral values and discipline.
The Labour Party chairman was accompanied on the visit by key party figures, including National Organising Secretary Chinelo Ofoche, National Youth Leader Anslem Eragbe, Senior Special Adviser (Media) Ken Eluma Asogwa, as well as businessman Etienne Feuba-Ketcha and other members of her entourage.
The visit underscored a moment of cross-party empathy, as political actors continue to rally around El-Rufai and his family during the period of mourning
