The Kogi State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has thrown its full weight behind Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan in her call for funding to revive the Ajaokuta Steel Company.
In a statement on Friday, Kogi PDP Chairman Hon. Muhammed Sanni Gambo hailed the Senator for her unwavering commitment, saying, “You’re our pride, we stand with you.”
Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan had during a Senate budget defence session passionately urged for renewed investment in the Ajaokuta Steel project—a plea that sparked a heated exchange with Senate Committee Chairman Patrick Ndubueze.
Gambo praised the Senator’s representation as a reflection of the people’s aspirations and urged her to stay focused despite attempts to undermine her advocacy.
“The Senator’s passion for Ajaokuta Steel is not new; it’s a promise she made during her campaign,” Gambo said, describing her as “a pride of the 10th Senate.” He expressed confidence in her ability to deliver tangible results.
Highlighting the broader significance, the PDP chairman noted that a revitalized steel industry would be pivotal for Nigeria’s socio-economic development and technological advancement.
As the debate over Ajaokuta Steel continues in Abuja, Sen. Akpoti-Uduaghan’s stance now enjoys the explicit backing of her home state PDP, signaling a strong political push for the long-delayed industrial giant.
