Kogi First Lady Advocates for Women’s Role in Nation Building
***Urges Support, Protection
The government at all levels has been urged to prioritize the protection of women’s rights and provide support to enhance their contribution to nation-building.
Kogi State First Lady, Hajia Sefinat Usman Ododo, made the call during Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day celebration at the Government House in Lokoja.
She emphasized the critical role women play in shaping society and highlighted the need for protection from sexual and gender-based violence.
Mrs Ododo reaffirmed her husband’s dedication to addressing poverty, insecurity, healthcare access, and the challenge of out-of-school children in Kogi State.
She also highlighted several initiatives by her office, including grants for over 1,000 women in small businesses, girl child education, and vocational training programs designed to secure a brighter future for women and girls.
She commended Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, for her nationwide empowerment programs and described her as a beacon of hope for Nigerian women.
The Governor’s wife reassured the public that Governor Ododo remains committed to uplifting women and youths in the state.
She also called on men to appreciate and support women, urging women to continue praying for their families and leaders.
As the local government elections approach, Mrs. Ododo encouraged women in Kogi State to make their voices heard by voting in large numbers to ensure a decisive victory for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
