In a bid to foster stronger police-community partnerships and enhance public safety, the Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Miller Dantawaye, has embarked on a strategic familiarization tour of key communities across the state.

According to a statement issued by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP William Ovye Aya, the CP’s latest tour took him to Ankpa and Anyigba, where he held high-level engagements with traditional rulers, community leaders, and various stakeholders in the security sector.

During the visit, CP Dantawaye paid courtesy calls on the Ejeh of Ankpa, HRH Alhaji Abubakar Ahmed Yakubu, and the Ogohi of Anyigba, Alhaji Abu Shaibu Okolo, seeking royal blessings and collaboration for improved security across their domains. He appealed for continuous partnership through information sharing and encouraged vigilance in identifying and reporting suspicious activities.

The CP also convened stakeholders’ security meetings at the Ankpa and Anyigba Area Commands, where he interacted with representatives from a cross-section of society including community leaders, the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), NURTW, Okada unions, Fulani and Hausa leaders, vigilante groups, and local hunters.

A key issue addressed during the meetings was the recurring farmers-herders clashes, especially with reference to Oganenigu community in Dekina LGA. CP Dantawaye emphasized the need for peaceful coexistence and cautioned residents against taking the law into their own hands.

“There can be no effective policing without information. We are here to deepen our relationship with the public to enhance security delivery,” the CP said.

The Commissioner also visited Prince Abubakar Audu University (PAAU), Anyigba, where he was received by the university management on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Marietu Tenuche, led by the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Administration), Prof. Johnson Juwon Balogun.

Prof. Balogun commended the visible improvement in security on the campus and appreciated the CP’s leadership style and commitment to strengthening institutional partnerships.

In separate sessions at the Ankpa and Anyigba Area Command headquarters, the CP addressed officers under his command, urging them to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline, and respect for human rights.

He reiterated the commitment of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to improving the welfare of both serving and retired officers, and warned personnel against indulging in corrupt practices.

“Integrity must be your guiding principle,” CP Dantawaye charged the officers. “We are determined to implement proactive, intelligence-driven, and community-based policing strategies to safeguard every part of Kogi State.”

The Commissioner assured residents that under his watch, the Kogi Police Command would continue to prioritize security and public trust through collaboration, transparency, and a people-first approach.
