Kogi Assembly screens, confirms 15 commissioners designate, political appointees

Kogi State House of Assembly on Tuesday screened and approved for appointment 15 Commissioners designate following the submission of their list to House by Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo shortly after his inauguration.

The confirmed nominees who thronged the House of Assembly complex with their crowds of family, friends and well-wishers, were all screened and found worthy for the state assignment by members at plenary.

The Kogi 8th Assembly led by the Speaker, Rt Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf dissolved into a Committee of the Whole to screen the nominees seven of whom are returnees from former Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration while the rest nine are fresh

Our Correspondent reports that of the 16 nominees sent to the House for screening, 15 were screened as one of them, Mr Wemi Jones, the former Commissioner for Education was unavoidably absent and was slated for a lone screening on Wednesday.

The 15 screened Commissioners designate include: Engr Farouk Danladi Yusuf, Barr Salami Ozigi-Deedat, Basiru Abubakar Gegu, Dr Adams Abdulaziz, Engr Joseph Oluwasegun Stephen .

Others are Muizideen Yunus Abdullah (SAN), Rabiatu Okute, Hon. Kingsley Fanwo, Fatima Momoh, Engr Mohammed Yusuf, Timothy Ojoma, Sunday Faleke, Mr Abanika Taye, Asiwaju Idris Asiru, and Engr Mohammed Adbulmutalib.

Others confirmed are political appointees whose list was transmitted to the House and they include: Other nominees with portfolios, whose names were sent to the house for confirmation are Ali Bello, Chief of Staff to the Governor; Hilary Ojoma, Deputy Chief of Staff and Elijah Evinemi, Head of Service.

Also Jerry Omodara, State Security Adviser; Isah Ismail, Special Adviser on Media; Sulaiman Ibrahim, Director-General Protocol; Oladele Nihi, Chief Press Secretary; Shaibu Oricha, Director-General Government House Administration and Femi Adegboyega, State Legal Adviser.

The Speaker, Rt Hon. Yusuf urged the Commissioners and political appointees to work hard for the development and positive transformation of the state. (Ends)
