Jigawa Speaker Donates Learning Materials to Children With Disabilities

The Speaker of the Jigawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Haruna Aliyu Dangyatin, has distributed learning materials—including school uniforms, books, and assistive devices—to children with disabilities across the state.
The items were handed out during a ceremony in Dutse, where the Speaker was represented by his Chief of Staff, Mr. Akeel Akeel. He said the gesture reflects Dangyatin’s commitment to ensuring that children living with disabilities have equal access to quality basic education.
Akeel explained that the Speaker, who had planned to attend the event in person, was unavoidably absent due to an official assignment “for the benefit of the state and Nigeria as a whole.” He, however, conveyed Dangyatin’s goodwill message, noting that although absent physically, “his mind and spirit are here with you.”
He added that the support targets not only children with disabilities but also children of Persons Living With Disabilities (PWDs) and other less-privileged pupils.
“This initiative is part of the Speaker’s commitment to reducing the number of out-of-school children in Jigawa and ensuring a brighter and more literate future for the state,” Akeel said.
Items distributed included male and female school uniforms, textbooks, school bags, hearing aids, and mobility-support tools such as walking sticks.
The Speaker urged beneficiaries to make good use of the materials and called on parents to remain committed to their children’s education.
