The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnap kingpins and 156 other criminal suspects in August, the Commissioner of Police, Mr. Dahiru Muhammad, has disclosed.

Muhammad, who made this known while receiving members of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) in his office, pledged to prioritize intelligence gathering and community policing to sustain Jigawa’s reputation as one of the most peaceful states in the country.
He stressed that beyond arresting suspects, the command was focusing on training and retraining personnel in the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) and the Legal Unit to strengthen prosecution. “When a criminal is arrested and prosecuted but goes free, there is every tendency for him or her to return to crime. That is why we are investing in capacity-building to ensure effective investigation, prosecution, and conviction,” he said.
The CP charged operatives of the State Intelligence Department (SID) to rededicate themselves, cultivate credible informants, and uphold integrity in their conduct. He warned that unprofessional behavior could damage the image of the force, emphasizing that intelligence remains the backbone of effective policing.
Muhammad also commended the media for its support in promoting peace and urged journalists to always verify facts before publication. “We need your partnership to project the truth and foster security and unity across the state,” he said.
Responding, Chairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel, Comrade Muhammad Zangina, praised the command’s proactive crime-fighting approach and assured continuous support in highlighting its activities with balanced reportage.
