The Jigawa State Government has pledged to work closely with the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) to tackle human trafficking and irregular migration in the state.
The announcement came during a one-day sensitization campaign in Kazaure, organized by the Ministry for Local Government in partnership with NAPTIP, aimed at educating participants from all 27 local government areas on the dangers of trafficking and illegal migration, especially among youth.
Speaking through the Ministry’s Director of Social Development, Alhaji Muhammad Mukkadas, the Commissioner for Local Government and Community Development, Alhaji Ibrahim Garba Hannun-Giwa, emphasized the administration’s commitment to human capital development and fostering self-reliance among residents.
He noted that the state’s Comprehensive Development Framework seeks to create opportunities that generate employment, enhance internally generated revenue, and discourage participation in trafficking networks.
Participants at the event included community leaders, Hisbah officials, social welfare officers, district heads, chief imams, and vigilante group members from the 12 local government areas of Jigawa North-West Senatorial Zone.
