The Jigawa State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that the 2025 health budget adequately meets the healthcare needs of its rapidly growing population.
Commissioner of Health, Dr. Muhammad Abdullahi Kainuwa, disclosed this while speaking to journalists after a closed-door meeting with the Jigawa State House Committee on Health and the Jigawa Maternal Newborn Child Health Accountability Forum (JiMaF) at the State Assembly Complex.
Dr. Kainuwa emphasized that Governor Malam Umar Namadi’s administration is dedicated to enhancing healthcare infrastructure across the state. He stated that the government is not only building on past progress but also working to expand and modernize healthcare facilities to cater to the growing population.
“The Malam Umar Namadi-led administration remains committed to improving health facilities by investing in new hospitals, upgrading primary healthcare centers, and equipping medical institutions with modern tools,” he said.
He further highlighted that revitalizing existing health facilities is a key priority, with adequate provisions in the 2025 budget to ensure the delivery of quality healthcare services to Jigawa residents.
In addition to infrastructural improvements, Dr. Kainuwa stressed that the state government is prioritizing human resource development in healthcare.
“We are committed to providing training and support for healthcare workers, ensuring that primary healthcare centers function effectively to meet the needs of the people,” he stated. The meeting was organized by JiMaF—a non-governmental organization supported by the Lafiya Project and funded by the UK Government—to assess the implementation of the 2024 health sector budget and analyze the approved 2025 health budget.
The forum raised concerns about the execution and impact of the 2024 health budget, emphasizing the need for efficient allocation and utilization of funds in 2025 to ensure sustainable and accessible healthcare services across Jigawa State.
With a focus on expanding medical infrastructure, training healthcare professionals, and strengthening service delivery, the Jigawa State Government aims to enhance healthcare accessibility and improve overall health outcomes for its citizens.
As the state moves forward with its 2025 health sector plans, stakeholders are optimistic that effective implementation will ensure a healthier future for the people of Jigawa.
