Bayero University, Kano (BUK) has announced the passing of Hajiya Hadiza Attahiru Jega, wife of former Vice-Chancellor of the institution and former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Attahiru Jega.
The university confirmed her death in a statement shared on its official social media page on Sunday, expressing grief over the loss and extending condolences to the bereaved family.
While details surrounding the cause of death were not disclosed, the institution offered prayers for the repose of her soul and comfort for her loved ones.
BUK also announced that her Janazah prayer was scheduled to hold immediately after Zuhr prayer at the National Mosque on Sunday, April 5, 2026.
The university prayed that Allah forgive her shortcomings and grant her eternal rest, describing her passing as a great loss.
