Govt Moves to Protect Rights of Abducted Jigawa Minor

The Jigawa State Government has directed its Ministry of Justice to immediately initiate appropriate legal and administrative actions in response to the case involving a minor, Walida Abdulhadi, who was allegedly abducted from the state and sexually molested in Abuja.
In a statement issued on behalf of the government, the Chief Press Secretary to Governor Umar Namadi, Mr. Hamisu Muhammed Gumel, said the administration is treating the matter with the highest level of seriousness, given its emotional and social impact on the family and the wider community.
According to the statement, the Jigawa State Ministry of Justice has been formally mandated to follow up on the case and ensure that all due legal procedures are strictly adhered to.
“The ministry is working closely with relevant authorities to safeguard the rights and interests of the affected citizen and to ensure justice is served,” the statement noted.
Gumel said the government is mindful of the strong public reactions that have followed the incident and assured residents that swift and decisive steps were taken as soon as the matter came to official attention.
He further disclosed that Governor Namadi, alongside senior government officials, has commenced high-level consultations with appropriate authorities to ensure the case is handled fairly, transparently, and without unnecessary delay.
Reaffirming its commitment to the protection of citizens, the government stressed that safeguarding the rights, dignity, and welfare of every indigene remains a core responsibility of the present administration.
While indicating that a more comprehensive statement would be issued at the appropriate time, the government expressed appreciation for the concern, solidarity, and prayers shown by citizens across the state.
The Chief Press Secretary appealed to members of the public to remain calm and allow the legal and official processes to take their full course.
