Flood Destroys 70 Houses in Jigawa’s Malam Madori LGA

At least 70 houses have been destroyed after hours of torrential rainfall triggered flooding in Malam Madori Local Government Area of Jigawa State.

Council Information Officer, Musa Muhammad, confirmed the incident in a statement on Monday, saying several homes were either washed away or submerged in Tonikutara, Gandun Sarki, Gandun Bundugoma and Shagari Quarters.

He explained that the downpour, which lasted for several hours on Sunday, overwhelmed waterways and culverts, leaving residents stranded.

Some victims have appealed to the Jigawa State Government for urgent relief support, as many families have been displaced.

Council Chairman, Salisu Sani, commiserated with the affected households and assured that the local emergency management committee would carry out an immediate assessment of the damage to enable appropriate intervention.
