Fix PDP Group: Atiku’s Exit Clears Path for Party Rebirth
The Fix PDP, Fix Nigeria movement has hailed the resignation of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), calling it “a long-overdue turning point” in the struggle to reclaim the party from the grip of self-serving politics.
In a statement signed by Abubakar Muktar, coordinator of the Katsina State chapter of the group, the reformist bloc said Atiku’s departure offers the PDP a rare chance to rebuild its credibility and reconnect with grassroots Nigerians, especially young people who seek fresh leadership and genuine reform.
“Atiku’s political journey within the PDP has been defined by ambition over unity, power over principle,” the group declared. “From opposing Goodluck Jonathan in 2015 to flouting zoning in 2023, he consistently weakened the moral core of the PDP.”
According to the group, Atiku’s actions over the years contributed significantly to internal disarray, eroded party cohesion, and alienated a generation of young, reform-minded members.
“Even as a former Vice President, Atiku never built structures to strengthen the PDP. He only returned whenever it suited his ambition—and left when he couldn’t get his way,” the statement read.
Fix PDP urged loyal members to seize this moment as a signal for renewal, calling on young Nigerians to take ownership of the party and rebuild it as a movement anchored on justice, inclusivity, and national unity.
The group also praised PDP governors who distanced themselves from Atiku’s latest political coalition, describing their move as “a necessary stand against recycled politics and divisive power grabs.”
“The PDP must now rise beyond personalities. It must return to the people, to principles, and to purpose. The reset begins now.”
The group reaffirmed its commitment to restoring the PDP as a viable, people-first opposition that can inspire national hope ahead of 2027.
