Final Year as Moment of Reckoning: HOSTCOM Presses Government for Action

As the National President of HOSTCOM, His Highness Dr. Benjamin Style Tamaranebi, JP, enters the final year of his administration, the organisation is shifting its focus from advocacy alone to measurable outcomes, urging government authorities to treat 2026 as a year of accountability for host communities.
Rather than issuing routine appeals, the HOSTCOM leadership is positioning its final year as a window for closing gaps—between promises and delivery, dialogue and development, peace and prosperity.
In a New Year message, Dr. Tamaranebi stressed that host communities have consistently upheld peace and cooperation, even in the face of persistent development deficits and environmental concerns. According to him, the patience shown by these communities must now be matched by decisive government action.
The HOSTCOM president signalled that the organisation will intensify structured engagement with government agencies and industry stakeholders, with emphasis on implementation, timelines and transparency, instead of broad assurances.
“This final year is about legacy,” a senior HOSTCOM official said. “Either long-standing issues are addressed, or they become unanswered questions for the next administration.”
Analysts say the stance reflects a growing shift among host community groups—from protest-driven advocacy to outcome-driven negotiation—aimed at ensuring stability while demanding fairness.
As 2026 unfolds, HOSTCOM’s message is clear: this is not a farewell year, but a pressure year, one intended to convert years of dialogue into concrete results that outlast the current leadership.
