
Federal Ministry of Art Launches ‘Re-imagining Hope’ Residency to Empower Nigerian Creatives
In a major boost for Nigeria’s creative sector, the Federal Ministry of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy has opened applications for the ‘Re-imagining Hope Residency’, an initiative designed to empower 20 exceptional creatives through an immersive six-week residency program.
In partnership with MADhouse by Tikera Africa, the residency aims to equip visual artists with the mentorship, resources, and collaborative experiences needed to address societal challenges through art while celebrating Nigeria’s cultural heritage.
The residency, set to run in two streams across the first and second quarters of 2025, will offer a unique opportunity for artists to engage in, Structured mentorship from industry experts, Collaborative workshops with fellow creatives, Open studio events showcasing their evolving projects and Cultural excursions connecting their work to Nigeria’s heritage

Each participant will create thought-provoking artworks that blend contemporary issues with Nigeria’s rich cultural narratives.
Honourable Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism, and Creative Economy, Barrister Hannatu Musa Musawa, described the residency as a pivotal step in shaping Nigeria’s creative future.
“This program underscores the critical role of the creative industry in shaping national identity and addressing societal challenges. By empowering our creatives, we are investing in Nigeria’s future as a cultural and artistic powerhouse,” Musawa said.
Director of Innovation and Enterprise at Tikera Africa, Osarume Akenzua, highlighted the residency’s mission to transform creativity into a tool for unity and economic growth.
“This residency is more than an artistic journey; it is a mission to re-imagine how art can build bridges, inspire unity, and catalyze change in the creative economy. We are committed to nurturing the next generation of cultural leaders who will reposition Africa globally through their creative expressions and enterprises.”

The program is open to creatives passionate about using art as a medium for storytelling, cultural preservation, and social impact.
