Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Aliyu Umar Yusuf has congratulated the Muslim Ummah and enjoined them to imbibe the lessons of the holy month of Ramadan in all their endeavours.

The Speaker in a statement signed and made available to newsmen by his Chief Press Secretary, Yabagi Mohammed on Wednesday, congratulated Muslims on the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

Rt Hon. Yusuf used the occasion to remind the Muslim Faithful of the lessons of perseverance, tolerance, compassion, neighbourliness, endurance, charity, generosity and exemplary worship demonstrated during the period of Ramadan.

He urged Muslims to imbibe the lessons and allow them to manifest in all their dealings especially in their relationship with God and man rather than jettison it after the month of serious worship.

Yusuf said the only way Muslim Faithful could show that the lessons of the month of Ramadan were not lost on them is for them to continue to strive to be better versions of who they were before the spiritual exercise.

He noted that imbibing and living in accordance with the lessons was among the best ways to move the society, the nation and particularly, Kogi State forward.

The Speaker further urged Muslims to upscale and not relent in their prayers for the nation and government at all levels, adding that their supplications would go a long way in ensuring good governance for the overall good of the country.

He specially commended the people of Kogi State for their prayers and support for the State Government, stressing that in spite of challenges, the state has continued to advance with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo steering the statecraft in the right direction.

The Speaker called for moderation in the celebration as he urged the celebrants to avoid anything that could put their lives and other citizens in jeopardy.

“Everybody that is celebrating, especially our youths and children, must ensure they do it within the limits of the law and without endangering the lives of others.

“They should be cautious of the things they do and where they go, to avoid any form of tragedy while celebrating,” he cautioned.

Rt Hon. Yusuf enjoined parents and guardians to prevail on their wards to ensure they do not go overboard in the name of celebration as he wished everyone a memorable Eid-El-Fitr celebration. (Ends)
