Defence Minister Badaru Urges NDC Course 33 Graduates to Lead with Integrity

The Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, CON, mni, has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening institutions as the bedrock of good governance and national stability.

Speaking at the National Defence College, Abuja, during the Graduation Lecture of Course 33 on Monday, the Minister emphasized that “strong nations are built on strong institutions, not strong individuals.” The event featured former Ghanaian President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as Guest Lecturer.

Badaru noted that under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, reforms and leadership appointments are aimed at deepening accountability and professionalism across all government institutions, including the defence sector.
He commended regional efforts by African governments, the AU, and ECOWAS, while urging greater cooperation to secure peace and development.

Addressing the graduands, he charged: “Leadership is a trust. Your responsibility is to leave behind systems stronger than you found them.” He thanked President Tinubu for his support of the Armed Forces and welcomed Akufo-Addo, whose insights, he said, would inspire the continent’s next generation of leaders.
