Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar, has reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to supporting United Nations humanitarian efforts across the country, pledging closer coordination and enhanced collaboration.
During a strategic meeting in Abuja with the UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator, Mohamed Malick Fall, the Minister emphasized the importance of reviving long-standing partnerships to address critical development challenges in health, water, sanitation, education, and livelihoods.
Personal Assistant on Media & Publicity, Mati Ali in a statement quoted the him to have indicated that the engagement is timely.
He noted that during his tenure as a state governor, inter-state benchmarking helped drive impressive progress in public service delivery, particularly in access to water and health outcomes.
In response, Malick Fall welcomed the Minister’s openness and leadership, expressing the UN’s readiness to deepen cooperation with both federal and sub-national actors to scale up humanitarian and development impact across Nigeria.
Key areas of discussion included piloting innovative service delivery models, improving coordination between technical teams, and engaging security institutions to support effective humanitarian interventions.
