Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State has mourned the passing of former President Muhammadu Buhari, describing it as a “monumental national loss” and a moment of deep sorrow for Nigeria.

In a heartfelt condolence message addressed to Governor Dikko Umaru Radda of Katsina State, Ododo expressed the sympathies of the government and people of Kogi State to the people of Katsina over what he called the loss of “a father, a statesman, and a patriot of uncommon courage.”

“President Buhari was a patriot, a man of discipline and integrity, and a leader who devoted his life to the service of our great nation,” Ododo said.

He praised Buhari’s legacy, highlighting his distinguished military career and his tenure as a democratic president, during which he championed national unity, public service, and the fight against corruption.

“From his days as a soldier to his time as President, Buhari exemplified selflessness, courage, and an unshakable commitment to Nigeria’s unity,” the governor said.

Governor Ododo also recalled the former president’s support for Kogi State, noting that Buhari paid attention to the state’s development priorities and gave it a place of relevance during his administration.

“In Kogi State, we remember with deep appreciation the support President Buhari extended to our developmental efforts. His leadership brought lasting impact,” he added.

He prayed for Allah (SWT) to forgive the late President’s shortcomings, grant him eternal rest in Aljanah Firdaus, and strengthen his family and the people of Katsina State at this time of mourning.

“His legacy will continue to inspire generations of leaders who believe in service above self,” the governor concluded.
