AIG Benneth Igwe Honored with FCT Advancement Award
The Federal Capital Territory Parliamentary Group has conferred the prestigious FCT Advancement Award on Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) Zone-7, Benneth Igwe, psc, mni, recognizing his exceptional contributions to security and governance in the FCT.
The award, presented during the 2024 FCT Advancement Awards ceremony, was described by the Group’s President, Comrade Joseph Opuama, as a testament to AIG Igwe’s creativity, dedication, and impact in ensuring safety and fostering peace. He was named the “Most Creative and Oriented Man of the Year 2024.”
Comrade Opuama highlighted the Group’s mission to promote good governance and responsible leadership across public institutions, with a particular focus on security in the FCT. He noted that AIG Igwe’s outstanding track record during his time as the FCT Commissioner of Police and in his current role as Assistant Inspector-General of Police made him an ideal recipient.
Thwarting a robbery at First Bank in Abaji: AIG Igwe’s leadership ensured the prompt neutralization of the threat and safety of the area.
Rescuing 572 stranded train passengers: He led a swift and strategic operation to secure passengers stranded near Gidan-Dogo, a region notorious for kidnappings.
Combating criminal activities across multiple states: AIG Igwe spearheaded operations to clear and dislodge kidnappers and other criminals from critical forest areas, including Koton-Karfe, Abaji, Nasarawa, and surrounding regions in Niger and Kaduna States.
The Parliamentary Group, affiliated with the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCDA), praised AIG Igwe’s professionalism and reforms, stating that his efforts have significantly enhanced the safety and security of the FCT and its environs.
Comrade Opuama concluded by urging AIG Igwe to sustain his commitment to excellence, as his achievements continue to inspire confidence in the nation’s security apparatus.
